Visual art by Anni C. Brink

WE BELONG TOGETHER (2024) is a song I wrote, created in collaboration with the Kairos Center for Religions, Rights, and Social Justice. I participated in an interfaith study series with other artists and cultural workers across the country where we read excerpts of We Cry Justice: Reading the Bible with the Poor People’s Campaign. We were each invited to create artwork on the theme of revolutionary love, inspired by our study and reflection together. I drew from my Hindu faith and experiences of homelessness in writing this song and other artists contributed from across our network.  In my crisis, I realized I was never just an ally to a poor people’s movement. It was for me and my family all along. It’s a reminder that we can break our isolation and become part of a movement - a movement to end poverty and injustice for all.

Guitar and additional lyrics by Isaiah Briggs. Singers: Charon Hribar, Pauline Pisano, Rev. Chris Wylie. Guitar/Singing: Matt Puckett. Produced by Pauline Pisano and the Kairos Center for Religions, Rights, and Social Justice.
